Traveling Light By Purchasing Disposable Items On Demand

One trick to packing light would be to not take many disposable items that may be needed on a trip but rather purchase them once arriving at your final destination. The most commonly delayed purchases are bedroom amenities such as shaving cream, razors, towels, etc.
It is still important to carry toothbrushes and toothpaste along with you on your trip because it is an item that may be needed while on the airplane and any layovers that you may have.
Clothes are much cheaper in Asia and one thing that is recommended to most travelers would be to not carry a large amount of clothes but rather purchase them at the final destination. In fact, most clothes sold in the United States are made abroad anyways.
Thailand is one such country with extremely cheap clothing that can be purchased for pennies on the dollar. Negotiation, of course, is the key to paying low prices for the clothes that you buy.
At most upscale tourist hotels in Asia, laundry services are available to be done on a daily basis. You will be able to receive your clothes in a very short amount of time. Knowing that, the need to carry a large number of clothes is not as critical as perhaps other items such as camera and travel books.
Internet access is gaining a lot of traction in Asia so your need to take a lot of books are not as necessary. You could effectively have online versions of travel guides or planners.
