How Sales Training Can Boost Your Business
September 4th, 2011 Filed under: Business Sales Training — Negotiation AuthorProper sales training can do wonders for a business in that having an effective sales team can really make or break your future as a company. The better an area does the better for everyone who lives here there is my philosophy. Sales training may be very common and there are lots of pet theories as to what works and how selling should be done. It has been my experience that much of the training done for sales people is of poor quality at best and I have seen some courses I would consider destructive if the trainees on it made the mistake of applying what is taught. I do not and never have considered selling an underhand means of forcing useless or unwanted services or goods onto hapless victims! What a cynical view – and nothing could be further from the truth.
To my mind Selling and Marketing are two of the great inventions to come out of the USA that transformed that country and much of the world. It created wealth for all by getting products moving throughout the country that allowed businesses to grow and many people to get rich. Rich people spend more – they buy cars, big insurance policies and big houses with lots of things in them – this means there are more things to sell! If you were a sales person on a BMW forecourt who would you rather arrive? Someone with lots of money to spend or excellent credit looking for a top of the range M series or somebody on welfare with £400 in cash? It isn’t hard to figure out – the more wealthy people there are the easier it is to be wealthy yourself. The more products get made, sold and delivered the more products can get made. It is a win-win situation that only breaks down when the taxes get too high or a war breaks out and the whole production and service scene breaks down as the workers and factories disappear or start making tanks instead of a nice new M5.
To this end I believe that lots of wisdom and effort is needed when teaching a course – with the intention to turn out course graduates who have really learnt something useful and they can apply what they have learnt to help expand their individual businesses. This isn’t entirely noble of me – it makes good sense since I have to live here too and I personally enjoy being well off – I would like you to be as well. This is why I have spent the last twenty years developing, improving and delivering the range of training courses I have to UK businesses – particularly in the Northwest of England.
I hope that you’ll consider sales training for your business – I really like to hear of the successes businesses have from applying the technology learnt.
